User and Role Management

User Management

The updated Access Control system in Plate Multisite makes managing users and roles far more intuitive, consistent, and powerful. You decide exactly who can access which parts of the CMS, designed for organizations that operate multiple sites, teams, and responsibilities.

Granular Control

Granular Control

With the new Access Control, you define roles and permissions down to the smallest detail, entirely no-code. For each user or group, you can specify which actions they’re allowed to perform: view, create, edit, and delete.

These actions can be mapped to any part of the CMS, including content types, settings, design modules, or integrations.

Examples:

  • A user may only add new events.
  • An editor can manage news articles but cannot delete media or access forms and settings.
  • A developer has access to technical features and the data model, but not to user management.

The CMS automatically accounts for nested elements like sections, rows, and components, ensuring permissions remain accurate and consistent.

You can also assign permissions at group level. This allows entire editorial teams, marketing teams, or development teams to receive the correct access with a single configuration.

Smart Portal

Smart Portal

The enhanced Access Control system also applies to the Smart Portal. All users log into the same portal environment, but what they see depends entirely on their role.

Examples:

  • A partner and a customer access the same portal but see completely different dashboards and content.
  • You can create user groups based on product tiers, customer types, or any other segment.
  • Each user only sees information relevant to their role, improving clarity and privacy.

Dynamic role-based content increases relevance, boosts engagement, and ensures every user has access to the right information, no more, no less.
