Automatic optimisation
Plate automatically compresses and scales every image to the correct size for the position where it’s used. You can upload files up to 16MB; Plate takes care of the rest:
- automatic compression
- automatic conversion to WebP
- correct resolutions for all viewports (desktop, tablet, mobile)
This saves editors time and significantly improves loading speed for your visitors.
Cropping images
Cropping is simple and fully visual. You can choose from common aspect ratios like 2:3, 16:9, and 1:1, or use freeform cropping when you want to highlight a specific part of an image, perfect for headers, banners or content blocks.

Reuse without effort
In Plate, you can reuse the same image across multiple pages and components, each with its own size or crop. Plate automatically scales the image to the right format. And if you update the image in the Media Library, it’s updated everywhere instantly.
Design-driven image options
Depending on your project’s theme, you can enable a variety of image options directly in the CMS, such as:
- rounded corners
- coloured overlay gradients
- adjustable overlay opacity
